Torque Product Visualisation Case Study
The Brief:
To create visually compelling images of the new product for web based promotional material.
The Solution:
Detailed custom materials were created from the Colour, Finish and Materials (CMF) specification provided by the client. Simultaneously, ‘clay’ renders (renders without final materials) of multiple angles and compositions were created for sign-off from the client.
The client then chose the preferred compositions which would go on to be mapped with the appropriate material finishes based on the CMF spec provided. The scene and lighting was set up, running several test renders to get the desired highlights and HDRI (high dynamic range lighting) reflections. Once this was complete the back lit keys on the phone were created, tested and finalised.
Light retouch work, including colour grading further enhanced the quality and lighting of the visualisations.
The Result:
The client and manufacturer of the phone, SGW, were delighted with the quality of the renders. The images were used for advertising and showcasing the phone on the website of the product design team: www.curventa.co.uk
This is a great example of how 3D visualisation can achieve stunning results, before the product has reached the manufacturing stage of the process, at a price less than a studio packshot photograph.
Further work that was completed included producing visuals for a pack shot whilst the product was in the pre-production stage. Wonder Vision were able to supply the client with different colour options and packshot visuals that allowed the manufacturer to have everything ready to market and launch the product whilst the product was still being manufactured.
