Joseph Thomas, Creative Director at Wonder Vision is the proud winner of a Silver Award in the International Design Excellence Awards 2011 for his design work on Aura, the commuter cycle helmet.
The award ceremony is taking place at the Industrial society of Americas international design conference in New Orleans in September 2011. This is the second year that The Henry Ford design museum will house the IDEA winners in its permanent collection to enrich the contents as it continues to tell the story of American innovation.

The scheme was developed to showcase the creative minds that exemplify the most progressive thinking of the year. Individuals were invited through independent selection, shortlisted by an expert panel of respected industry professionals including; Ashleigh Vinall (Head of Graphics, Selfridges), Kate Stunners (Executive Creative Director, Saatchi & Saatchi), Moira Gemmill (Director of Design, Victoria & Albert Museum) and Andrew Diprose (Art Director, Wired, UK).
Autodesk International Visualisation Competition
Wonder Vision are the proud winners of the Autodesk International Visualisation competition. After receiving the highest public vote, the judges went on to award Wonder Vision the highest score on the following criteria: Creativity, Technical complexity, delivery. The Marketing Store Award
Wonder Vision received The Marketing Store Award for their creative response to the DesignWeek design brief 2010. The creative challenge was to design a range of collectable toys for children aged 3-10 to be able to afford with their pocket money. The toys had to be designed to retail for less than £3, be suitable for mass production and be designed fit for far eastern commercial manufacture.
Certified SolidWorks Professional – Advanced Surfacing Specialists
Wonder Vision directors James Elderton and Joseph Thomas pass the SolidWorks Advanced Surfacing Exam to become fully Certified SolidWorks Advanced Surfacing Professionals.
Passing the advanced exam demonstrates the CSWP’s proven ability to utilise the complex 3D parametric features within the CAD package.
New Design Magazine Feature
Aura, a commuter cycle helmet designed by Wonder Vision has been featured in the prestigious New Design Magazine 2010. The product has received global attention since being developed in 2009/2010. The product has been exhibited at shows in London, The Midlands and more recently in the Design Gallery of the 2011 IDSA International Conference in Michigan, USA. The Product will be shown in the permanent collection of The Henry Ford design museum in Dearborn, USA from December 2011 onwards.
